The Lindsey Trail is a nationally recognised trail that has both on road and off road sections allowing the rider to keep to quiet roads and peaceful green lanes and forest trails.

The northern loop can be ridden as a separate short and easy ride. The route consists of 5.6 miles / 9km of roads which are nice and quiet and 4.6 miles / 7.4km of off road riding of which most are through wooded areas.

1. From the car park at Willingham Woods cross the A631 to join a green path that is marked with the Lindsey Trail logo and follow it until you reach a forest track.

2. Turn left onto the track and keep on this for just over a half a mile.

3. At the next T-Junction turn right and then left at the following junction.

4. Keep on this path until you reach the A631. Cross the road to join the shared pedestrian / cycle path. Keep on this until you reach the next road that will take you towards Tealby.

5. Follow this road for just under a mile and then take the first turning on the left. The road sign says “No Through Road” but on a bike there is a way around this.

6. Shortly you will reach the ford at Tealby Thorpe. It is possible to ride through the ford, a pleasant experience on a warm day, but if you prefer there is a footbridge along the footpath on the left. Once across the River Rase get on the footpath. Unless you are confident rider it is best to push your bike along the path beside the river as there is quite a drop into it if you topple over the wrong way.

7. Once you are clear of the Rase continue along the lane to the next junction where you will turn right and then take the first left signposted to Walesby.

8. As you cycle along this lane you can see Castle Farm with its mock fortress, the Risby Grange flock of Lincolnshire Longwool sheep and red deer that are farmed in the area.

9. When you reach the next T-junction turn right up the short hill and then turn left and left again. The next section is downhill so very easy riding.

10. Just after the railway lines on the left hand side you will see a sign pointing down a Public Byway, take this path and keep on it for the next 1.25 miles / 2km until you reach the road by Walesby Caravan Park.

11. Cross over the road and continue on the track through the woods. When you reach the next road turn left.

12. After a short ride along the road look out for a gateway on the right that will lead you into Willingham Woods.

13. Keep on the main track until you reach a T-junction. On the way you would have passed the site of a medieval hermitage at Chapel Hill, which is hidden in the woods.

14. At the T-junction turn right and follow the track back to the car park.
